The station's new design resembles the aesthetic of the original station built in 1891, and incorporates the city's charm. The new station will continue to grow with the city of Onomichi.
The station features an observation deck overlooking Onomichi Suido channel as well as new stores packed with Onomichi's appeal, and acts as a hub for residents and tourists alike.
As they step off the train, passengers can enjoy the beautiful views of Onomichi Suido channel from the observation deck. The deck is accessible by staircase or elevator both inside and outside of the station, and is even open to the public in the evenings.
The uniquely shaped staircase leads to "Onotabi Gate." Your fun-filled journey from Onomichi Station begins here. Walk through the second floor deck and shops, and into the city of Onomichi.
There is a waiting area adjacent to the station (outside of the ticket gate), and luggage lockers on the west side (towards Itozaki Station) of platform 1 (inside the ticket gate). The large lockers are convenient for those with large suitcases.

Onomichi Station's vision is to "grow with the city of Onomichi." With this vision in mind, the Synchronized Community retail concept represents Onomichi's diversity, as it incorporates specialty goods and menu items developed together with locals, paying tribute to local history while building the future.
